Is PrivChain compliant with regulations?
PrivChain implements "compliant privacy" through association sets. Users can prove their funds are NOT from sanctioned sources without revealing their actual source. This approach, inspired by Vitalik Buterin's privacy pools proposal, enables privacy while supporting compliance requirements.

Privacy Pools
How do privacy pools work?
- Deposit: Send PRIV to a pool, receive a secret note
- Mix: Your deposit mixes with others (anonymity set)
- Withdraw: Use ZK proof to withdraw to fresh address
- Unlink: No connection between deposit and withdrawal
What is an anonymity set?
The anonymity set is the number of deposits that look identical to yours. If 1,000 people deposited 100 PRIV each, your withdrawal could have come from any of those 1,000 deposits—making tracing practically impossible.
Are my funds safe in a privacy pool?
Yes. Your funds are protected by:
- Cryptographic proofs: Only you can withdraw with your note
- Smart contract security: Audited contracts
- No custody: Protocol never has access to your keys

How long should I wait before withdrawing?
For best privacy:

What are association sets?
Association sets enable compliant privacy. You can prove:

What if I lose my privacy note?
Unfortunately, lost notes cannot be recovered. The privacy guarantee means no one—not even the protocol—can identify which deposit was yours. Always backup notes securely.
